They have adapted their blooming schedule to maximise the chances of attracting the specific pollinators that are active at night. Their petals are usually pale or white, making them more visible in the dark. Additionally, many night flowers produce… strong, sweet, or musky fragrances to attract moths and other nighttime insects. Observing and experiencing the beauty and scent of night flowers can be a delightful and magical experience, especially in moonlit gardens or natural settings.

Vania Bouwmeester Pentcheva is an established Bulgarian artist based in the Netherlands who has exhibited her work nationally, as well as in South Africa. Moved and inspired by nature, including its presence in urban landscapes, she explores her emotions, memories and philosophical thoughts through the composition of abstract paintings full of dynamic shapes and colours. Textures and colours spontaneously arrive on the canvas, though structured layering is carefully thought out.
