About this artwork
In this painting, I embraced the vibrant harmony of nature, capturing the serene dance between light and shadow through the realism of a sunlit park. The impressionistic strokes evoke a tranquil yet lively atmosphere, layered with the depth and texture of oil paints. My aim was to evoke feelings of peace and an appreciation for the fleeting moments of natural beauty, inviting viewers to pause and reflect on the tranquility enveloping them. This artwork… will bring a breath of fresh, calming energy into any home, nurturing a connection with the peaceful essence of nature.
I'm Vasily Kulchenko, a self-taught artist based in Perth, Western Australia. My work is rooted in Impressionism, with a strong focus on landscapes, though I also enjoy experimenting with abstract forms.
I've been painting since childhood, and over the years, my style has evolved into a blend of classic Impressionist techniques with a touch of modern vibrancy. I primarily work with oil on canvas and wood panels, using varied underpainting methods and thick, textured strokes to capture the shifting moods of nature.
Currently, I'm inspired by the stunning landscapes of Western Australia — from bright, open beaches to the deep blues of the Indian Ocean. My aim is to express not only what I see, but what I feel — translating light, movement, and emotion into color.
