This bronze sculpture captures the vital energy and intense tension between prey and its pursuers. I wanted to freeze this fleeting moment where the power and grace of the impala are fully expressed. It will bring a dynamic and wild energy to your home, inviting you to feel the beauty of movement and survival in nature.
A passionate self-taught artist, Vassil was born in 1949. He began sculpting by carving and quickly moved on to modeling. His artistic expression developed through animal subjects. He then adopted bronze, the only material capable of capturing the movement and frenetic pace of his creations. For Vassil, choosing animals as the sole subject of his work was not a matter of chance, nor was it driven by aesthetic concerns. For him, animals were a means of expressing more easily what he could not have achieved with any other subject. There is a greater freedom to communicate through the lens of animal life, and for an artist who celebrates all aspects of existence, animals offer a powerful way to express everything without taboo. From the outset, expressiveness and movement have characterized Vassil's world. He thus distinguishes himself from the vision of past masters, for whom animals were an aesthetic element that made the object beautiful. His vision of animals is resolutely contemporary.
