About this artwork

Oil painting with a panoramic view of the heart of Riga, the Old Town, from the opposite bank of the Daugava River, in a sunny, slightly cloudy weather. This view is a visiting card of Riga. All the spiers of the main cathedrals of the city are visible: from left to right - Church of St. Jacob, Dome Cathedral, St. Petra. On the left, the yellow walls with a tower and… a spire - this is the main castle of the city, which now is the residence of the President of the country. Riga is over 800 years old. The old city has more Gothic and ancient German architecture. Unfortunately, after World War 2, a third part of the old city died from shells. Therefore, modern and low-rise buildings are being actively built, which greatly dilutes the general atmosphere of antiquity.
Was created in 2018.

« Most of all I value the coloristic beauty of artworks as well as the artists' ability to show the weather conditions and the state of nature with one brush stroke. »
Vera Bondare is a Latvian painter whose works have been widely exhibited nationally as well as in Russia. She believes that a contemporary artist cannot 'go forward' without knowing the past and the roots of art. As a result, Bondare's style combines traditional techniques with the new visual experience of her own emotions. Her works are created using oils on canvas or linen.
