About this artwork
“Lemon” – perhaps the very first still life of my artistic journey.
Since 2008, I have been developing my own painting technique, and since 2013 the black contour has become an essential part of my visual language.
This aesthetic is my tribute to the early 20th-century avant-garde through a contemporary interpretation. I have often been called a “master of color” for my unexpected and expressive combinations.
In “Lemon,” a familiar object… transforms into abstraction and symbol. As in all my art works, there is a dialogue with imagination – a recognisable form reimagined, inviting everyone to discover their own meaning within it.

Veronika Sarma is a painter whose self-directed journey through European art history, combined with her academic foundation in psychology and anthropology, deeply informs her mixed media and acrylic creations. She masterfully blends abstraction, psychological symbolism, and avant-garde influences into spontaneous, rhythmic compositions that transcend academic conventions. Her dynamic technique channels the subconscious, drawing upon the spirits of Picasso, Miró, and Kandinsky. Every piece she creates is infused with the search for harmony and inner freedom, inviting viewers to experience the profound unity of human emotion and the universal creative pulse.
