About this artwork
On a surface dusted with burnt sienna powder, the word scissors appears fragmented, as if it too had been cut by the very instrument it names. At the center of the composition, a pair of scissors seems to hover in a silent gesture, suspended between action and stillness.
The powder spreads like a trace of time, a material slowly settling onto the surface and transforming its tone. Lines and arcs crossing the space suggest possible movements, trajectories… whose beginning or end we cannot quite determine.
On one side, a small piece of denim introduces a fragment of everyday reality, like a material memory separated from its original context. The cut is not merely a physical gesture; it becomes a way of revealing new relationships between elements.
In this work, cutting does not mean destruction. It means opening—separating in order to see again, to discover new balances within matter.
