About this artwork
This work is born from a profound respect and admiration for the human essence, highlighting that we are not objects to be owned or classified. I used acrylic to give life and texture to an image that combines realism and symbolism with a vintage touch. I wanted to capture an atmosphere of introspection and delicacy, full of energy that invites us to value freedom and dignity in every corner of the home.
Victoria Ascanio uses painting, drawing, and printmaking, supported by her training at the San Fernando School of Fine Arts and the University of Oxford. She employs techniques of realism and symbolism, inspired by masters such as Rembrandt, and explores themes such as portraiture and floral nature. Her works convey a profound reflection on human complexity, inviting the viewer to find the soul in the gaze and gestures, enriching the scene with symbols that evoke a timeless and emotional narrative.
