About this artwork
This oil painting is part of my "Trust & Unity" series, a poetic exploration on the border between realism and surrealism.
In this painting, a newborn rests peacefully among the rocks of a northern coast. I wanted to create a striking contrast: the child's tender, delicate skin against the harsh, almost cruel, ruggedness of nature. Despite this stark setting, the infant remains serene, pure, and defenseless, for he is in his natural element.… He is an extension of the nature that gave birth to him and that now watches over him.
In our modern world, we tend to forget that we are an integral part of this ecosystem. Through this work, I hope to invite the viewer to reflect on a humanity that is gradually losing its connection to its roots. It is a call to rediscover this unity and this fundamental trust in the Earth that gives us life.
Viera Androniuk, a painter trained at Zhytomyr State University, works primarily in oil, watercolor, and airbrush. She develops a highly refined contemporary figurative style, combining an aesthetic of nature with "imperfect perfection." Through light and form, she reveals the fragile beauty of everyday moments and invites us to reconnect with the wonder of childhood, generating a profound nostalgia and meditative peace in each of her works.
