About this artwork
When I created this work, I wanted to capture the moment of transition. The night is not gone yet, but the morning is already felt. The upper part of the painting is filled with silence and tension. In these deep crimson and magenta tones lives accumulated emotion. It is a state where darkness does not frighten but simply holds you in anticipation.
Below, the color of the morning air appears. Green, cool and still a bit uncertain. And then, like… an inner impulse, light emerges. It is not bright or triumphant. It is more like a quiet light, the first warm signal that something is beginning to change.
This moment is not about an ending or a beginning. It is about the boundary. When the night meets the morning and neither side yet knows which one will stay.
Viki Smoliar, born in an artistic Ukrainian family, disciplines herself in painting enriched by cinematic luminance. Embracing mixed media techniques, she layers paints, initiating a dialogue between tradition and self-expression, gradually evoking depth and transformation. Her work is a pursuit of harmony, expressing sensations, and emotional states through color and texture interplays. Smoliar captures the transient beauty of light, shadow, and time's trace, conveying the dynamics of change and the hidden life beneath apparent surfaces.
