About this artwork
Picnic in the country - painted more than 30 years ago and since then stowed in the studio (and not dusty, but fresh in colors and condition).
As an admirer of the French Impressionists, the artist called it "Déjeuner sur l'herbe" based on Edouard Manet's masterpiece. Without any megalomania, only as a bow to the great master.
A friend and two friends of the artist are sitting on the edge of the forest with their picnic basket in the grass: a light-flooded,… peaceful and friendly atmosphere.
The oil painting was created at a time when the artist was painting less representationally and increasingly non-representationally. Many dozen of his landscape paintings have been privately owned for a long time, this is one of the few in the hands of an artist.
The picture is dated and signed on the front, additionally titled, dated and signed on the back. The picture frame shown in the additional pictures is not part of the offer. Picture hook on the back.

Volker Mayr is a German painter who initially started with figurative works under the influence of his grandfather, who was himself a painter. Today, his abstract oil paintings with pasty paint application on white primed canvas inspire his collectors. His compositions have a strong luminosity, which can be rediscovered again and again depending on the lighting situation. Similar to a composer with music, he arranges the colors on the canvas to create a harmonious overall concept.
