About this artwork
The basic idea for this work came about after a conversation with a young woman in the studio who, as a boat refugee, experienced deep human emotions and experiences. These fluctuated between hope, energy and fear.
In the work, "deeply human I", I take up these described emotions and capture the flowing dynamics and complexity of the emotions through an abstract expressionist approach with many layers of glaze on raw linen. The color penetrates… deep into the still untouched material and then confronts it with the artistic process of dealing with these deep human emotions.
The blue tones blend with the red and white accents to create a scene that radiates water, sea, calm, as well as a hidden energy and hope. The dark elements convey the uncertainty that, in the interplay, symbolizes the "deeply human emotions".
