About this artwork
High above the valleys of Lebanon, a village rests between sky and stone. Homes cling to the hills, and lives are woven together as one. Here, joy is shared—when one sings, the mountain echoes. And when sorrow comes, it settles on every heart, gently and equally.
Above them stand the Cedars of Lebanon, like silent angels guarding the land. In winter, they تحمل snow with strength; in summer, they give shade and breath. They are more than trees—they… are a symbol of integrity and unity.
The people live as the cedars do—rooted, resilient, and together. They work, build, and rise as one, carrying the spirit of a nation that refuses to fall.
Wael Hamadeh, a Lebanese painter, sculptor, and conceptual artist, works with mixed media, wood, driftwood, and reclaimed materials, drawing from his Mediterranean and village heritage. His technique fuses Oriental Surrealism with narrative symbolism, blending detailed, tactile compositions and dreamlike imagery that capture the essence of Lebanese culture and memory. Through his emotionally layered works, he evokes nostalgia, resilience, and hope, inviting viewers to feel the bonds between identity, community, and the enduring spirit of place.
