About this artwork
Working intensely most often to a theme by series, this is number 13 of Sleeth's free variations on the façade of a cathedral, echoing the famous suite of Rouen Cathedral paitnings by Claude Monet a century ago.
Here the contemporary addition of collaged scraps of posters and stickrers as a base, of marker pen work and graffiti-inspired touches, creates a shifitng atmospheric portrait of a timeless edifice, anecdotally with a nocturnal feel originating… in the spectacle of night-time video projections on the cathedral to celebrate its 800-year jubilee.
