About this artwork
A water buffalo painted in cow dung and a tiger painted in chicken blood, locked in a balanced and therefore endless struggle. Embellished with gold leaf and textured with spray and acrylic paints. Diptych on 1200g laid paper with a torn edge.
Werner Härtl works as a self-taught painter and illustrator, boldly experimenting with unusual media such as cow dung. His technique ranges from watercolor compositions to impasto, expressive applications to mixed media with gold leaf and pigments, always oscillating between realistic depiction, graphic refraction, and caricatural influences. His works combine nature, tradition, and a critique of consumerism into a powerful aesthetic that invites reflection and contemplation on one's own habits.
