The painting "Lucia" belongs to the picture cycle "Sagres - Painting of Light". The cycle is named after the Portuguese coastal city of Sagres (the saint), which is located at the most south-westerly point of mainland Europe. The light impressions that the artist received at this "holy place" are abstractly implemented in his paintings. The interrelation of light - color - space and sound, which Lucassen creates in his works, is a true source of…
inspiration and animation. His art opens up depth and breadth, concentrated and decentered at the same time. Lucassen creates a pure, elementary painting of light that respects and promotes the nature of the color material. The colors begin to speak in these pictures.
