About this artwork
“Pandora’s Box: Hephaestus”
(10.5” x 5” x 5”)
Hephaestus / the god of technology (Greek Mythology) was shunned by goddess, Athena (who created the gifts that gods gave men--Pandora’s box) and he was the only ugly god among other beautiful immortals. He was cast out of heaven by one of his parents, due to his imperfections.
Mediums: Technology and a multitude of Swarovski Crystals, mounted on objects, sit atop a canvas base. The figure is embellished… with 24k gold leaf. A pebble from Rome and Lake Como are embedded. Copper, steel, brass and vintage key atop Greek text surround the box perimeter.
