About this artwork
A surreal self portrait. The swirls of color and the poignant gaze that breaks through them explore the complex layers of human emotion and perception. This work is an invitation to delve into the depths of feeling, encouraging introspection. One of four Harkrader self portraits--a time of sadness. In life's journey, there will be at least one and maybe more times of melancholy or outright grief. Eventually we may have to shake hands with adversity,…
rather than to deny or reject sorrow or depression. It does not mean we must stay in the zone of sorrow but the experience will shape who you are going forward.
