About this artwork
In one hand, red.
In the other, a face calmer than mine.
The mirror whispers who I should be—
while I defend who I am in silence.
I overflowed,
because what remained inside me could not fit anywhere.
They called it messy,
I called it real.
The one in the mirror is neat, measured, acceptable.
She looks at me as if she has never made a mistake.
As if she has never been broken,
never been misunderstood by anyone.
But my face
is the proof of everything… that overflowed.
A mark that cannot be erased, cannot be fixed,
refusing to be hidden.
And in that moment I understand—
sometimes a person exists not by resembling the mirror,
but in spite of it.
Yaren Manas is a painter with a background in Architectural Decorative Arts, blending academic training with independent studio exploration. Her technique combines figurative cubism and abstract expressionism, using simplified, fragmented figures, bold color contrasts, and expressive, layered brushwork to evoke psychological depth. Her art radiates the tension between strength and fragility, inviting viewers to connect with their own hidden emotions and inner transformations.
