About this artwork
Recently exhibited at Veles Art Gallery (Lviv, 2026), "19.64" explores the fragile boundary between memory and commodity. The title serves as a cryptic temporal marker or perhaps a price tag in a world where everything is for sale.
It is an ironic view to the "marketplace of memories", where dates, fleeting moments, and visual effects are traded like currency. The composition captures the tension between the permanence of the "classic" canvas and… the contemporary age. Through layered textures and fluid forms, I suggest that in a landscape of "nothing constant," our most private recollections are the only assets that truly fluctuate in value.

Yaryna Shumska is a multidisciplinary artist whose work bridges the gap between performance and abstract painting, creating what she calls an "archive of action."
She is a prize-winning Ukrainian artist whose works have been widely exhibited on a national level, as well as in Poland, France, Spain and the United States. Her artistic geography is truly global, ranging from the Venice International Performance Art Week and Tokyo to Bangkok, Barcelona, and the Arctic Action in Svalbard. A significant place in her practice is occupied by abstract painting from the 2008–2020 period, which served as a foundation for exploring the canvas as a space for "inhabiting" action. In these works, color and texture function not merely as visual elements, but as mediums for internal rhythm and energy. These canvases laid the groundwork for her current practice, where painting is transformed into a direct imprint of physical presence.
