Painted in the spring of 2020, "Dream" is a lyrical journey into the subconscious. During a time of global stillness, Yaryna Shumska turned to the canvas to create a space where the soul could roam free. This imaginative abstract landscape transcends reality, offering ethereal forms that invite the viewer to drift upward and "fly in the sky."
The palette is a soft, meditative harmony of sky blue, tender pink, and deep violet—colors intentionally… chosen to evoke absolute calmness. Shumska’s mastery is visible in the sophisticated interplay of textures and surfaces, where translucent layers meet tactile strokes, mimicking the fluid and fleeting nature of a dream.

Yaryna Shumska is a multidisciplinary artist whose work bridges the gap between performance and abstract painting, creating what she calls an "archive of action."
She is a prize-winning Ukrainian artist whose works have been widely exhibited on a national level, as well as in Poland, France, Spain and the United States. Her artistic geography is truly global, ranging from the Venice International Performance Art Week and Tokyo to Bangkok, Barcelona, and the Arctic Action in Svalbard. A significant place in her practice is occupied by abstract painting from the 2008–2020 period, which served as a foundation for exploring the canvas as a space for "inhabiting" action. In these works, color and texture function not merely as visual elements, but as mediums for internal rhythm and energy. These canvases laid the groundwork for her current practice, where painting is transformed into a direct imprint of physical presence.
