About this artwork
For me, observing the landscape is a journey toward abstraction. I seek to translate the natural world into a language of expressive forms, exploring the delicate interaction between color spots and the fluidity of time. Yet, my work goes beyond pure aesthetics.
I believe that every landscape encodes a hidden history—a layering of events that reflects our reality. Within these colors and textures lie both the joy and the wounds of nature, of which… we as humans are an inseparable part. Through my paintings, I aim to reveal these layers, capturing the essence of what has happened and what is unfolding today.
My art is an invitation to look deeper: to see the beauty of a gesture, but also to feel the pulse of the memory and the resilience embedded in the earth beneath our feet.

« I work with painting, performance art, installation, and dance. I'm interested in the research of spaces with human presence and looking for situations that reveal dual reality and ambiguity. »
Yaryna Shumska is a multidisciplinary artist whose work bridges the gap between performance and abstract painting, creating what she calls an "archive of action."
She is a prize-winning Ukrainian artist whose works have been widely exhibited on a national level, as well as in Poland, France, Spain and the United States. Her artistic geography is truly global, ranging from the Venice International Performance Art Week and Tokyo to Bangkok, Barcelona, and the Arctic Action in Svalbard. A significant place in her practice is occupied by abstract painting from the 2008–2020 period, which served as a foundation for exploring the canvas as a space for "inhabiting" action. In these works, color and texture function not merely as visual elements, but as mediums for internal rhythm and energy. These canvases laid the groundwork for her current practice, where painting is transformed into a direct imprint of physical presence.
