About this artwork
More than a mere landscape, this square-format masterpiece is a profound emotional journey. It captures the ethereal moment of absolute communion with nature—an "abstract sea" where the horizon between the external world and internal harmony dissolves. Through a delicate language of color, the artwork radiates a sense of peace that transcends the visual form.
This painting holds significant cultural weight, having been showcased at Yaryna Shumska’s… solo exhibitions at the prestigious Primus Gallery and the Andrey Sheptytsky National Museum in Lviv (2018).
The rhythmic interplay of tones invites the viewer to pause and breathe, sharing in the artist's tranquil state of mind. It is an ideal centerpiece for a space dedicated to reflection, offering a timeless connection to the soothing power of the sea.

« I work with painting, performance art, installation, and dance. I'm interested in the research of spaces with human presence and looking for situations that reveal dual reality and ambiguity. »
Yaryna Shumska is a multidisciplinary artist whose work bridges the gap between performance and abstract painting, creating what she calls an "archive of action."
She is a prize-winning Ukrainian artist whose works have been widely exhibited on a national level, as well as in Poland, France, Spain and the United States. Her artistic geography is truly global, ranging from the Venice International Performance Art Week and Tokyo to Bangkok, Barcelona, and the Arctic Action in Svalbard. A significant place in her practice is occupied by abstract painting from the 2008–2020 period, which served as a foundation for exploring the canvas as a space for "inhabiting" action. In these works, color and texture function not merely as visual elements, but as mediums for internal rhythm and energy. These canvases laid the groundwork for her current practice, where painting is transformed into a direct imprint of physical presence.
