About this artwork
In this work, I sought to represent the myth of Diana and Actaeon through a tension between rigid forms and emotional fluidity. The vibrant colors and fragmented angles express inner conflicts and the quest for balance. A vivid and profound energy invites reflection and dialogue between the human figure and its surrounding elements, almost like a moving visual poem.
Yoann Toublant is a painter and illustrator with a background in humanities and film studies, before turning to painting. He uses an intuitive and spontaneous technique, sketching directly onto the canvas to establish a free structure, then juxtaposing vibrant colors in a controlled chaos that patiently harmonizes. His practice oscillates between figuration and abstraction, exploring themes of clowning, struggle, and dreamlike landscapes. He conveys a bittersweet universe, imbued with ambiguity and questioning, where emotion arises from the tension between balance and imbalance.
