About this artwork
Lilies symbolize faith, strength, and deep love — enduring and profound, like their scent. The nude figure becomes a metaphor for inner nakedness: the unveiling of the soul, sensitivity, and authenticity.
The woman’s gaze toward the lilies expresses silent love, trust, and an intuitive kinship between them. Faded fluid-art textures within the lily leaves and on the woman’s body serve as traces of memory — seemingly dissolving over time, yet leaving… marks that remain forever.
The red thread symbolizes love that originates from the lilies, passes through the woman’s heart and soul, and continues into future generations.
The painting belongs to the Voices of Generations series. The work was created as part of an artist residency and was exhibited at Rochester Contemporary Art Center (ROCO).
YULIIA PORAIKO (PALIJ) Born in 1990 in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine Lives and works in Rochester, USA
In her artistic practice, Yuliia explores femininity, female nature, and its energy. Central to her work are themes of love, motherhood, and the importance of freedom as an essential element of the feminine essence.
She highlights various states of women in the contemporary world, addressing everyday challenges, self-realization, fatigue, inner contradictions, and the ongoing search for balance.
Through her artistic practice, the artist draws the viewer’s attention to phenomena that are seemingly obvious yet often remain invisible in everyday life, particularly within the context of female experience. Her paintings frequently speak through metaphor, inviting personal interpretation and emotional engagement.
