About this artwork
This work is inspired by the flowers that grew in my neighbor's garden. Recalling my childhood, my sister and I used to run to this kind woman and consider her almost our grandmother. The painting creates a feeling of calm, dynamism, joy, and mystery, because these are the emotions I feel when I think about the flowers I saw in Mykolaivka's yard every time I think about her.
The combination of bright warm and cold tones, textures and details add… volume and depth, allowing the viewer to discover new aspects of the work from different lighting angles.
The painting was painted with oil paints with an acrylic backing on canvas.
YULIIA PORAIKO (PALIJ) Born in 1990 in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine Lives and works in Rochester, USA
In her artistic practice, Yuliia explores femininity, female nature, and its energy. Central to her work are themes of love, motherhood, and the importance of freedom as an essential element of the feminine essence.
She highlights various states of women in the contemporary world, addressing everyday challenges, self-realization, fatigue, inner contradictions, and the ongoing search for balance.
Through her artistic practice, the artist draws the viewer’s attention to phenomena that are seemingly obvious yet often remain invisible in everyday life, particularly within the context of female experience. Her paintings frequently speak through metaphor, inviting personal interpretation and emotional engagement.
