About this artwork
KINOKABAN®︎ is a hand-carved wooden handbag with one-of-a-kind design by Yuuki Kamei. The main part of the bag is made of old-growth Japanese Linden tree (Tilia japonica), which has stood in Hokkaido, Japan for over 150 years.
This wooden bag is a stunning sculptural work that expresses a series of geometrical shapes in shades of diamond shapes. I only use the traditional japanese lacquer technique for the lacquering of this bag to highlight the… polish and carving.
