About this artwork
This artwork, like all my iconic pieces, was created from a charcoal sketch of a live model. Yves Dimier, a painter and calligrapher trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and a passionate devotee of visual arts, turned to Chinese calligraphy, a discipline he has explored with enthusiasm for over twenty years. His technique combines powerful strokes with delicate illusions, merging writing and drawing into a contemporary form where gesture takes precedence. His style, centered on the "inner contour of things," transcends the visible to evoke the invisible. In his works, he conveys a quest for peace, love, and spiritual elevation, inviting the viewer to experience the profound, ephemeral yet essential nature of the gesture.
