A curation by Natalie Slater, Curator at Singulart - Raúl Lara’s ‘Nueva Figuración’ returns to the figure with restraint.
Bodies are rendered with classical clarity, then interrupted. Profiles surface through the paint. Flesh is overlaid, thinned, partially erased. A second face emerges within the first.
The image remains composed, but unstable.
Lara’s surface is precise. Abrasion and opacity coexist. What appears resolved is quietly undone.
The figure holds, though never entirely as one.
