A curation by Rita Cerciello, Founder & Senior Curator at Independent Art Advisory - "To articulate the past historically means to seize a memory as it flashes up at a moment of danger." — Walter Benjamin
In this fifth curation, I explore the fragile beauty of the "Aura" in our modern age. "The Arcades of Memory" is a tribute to the visionary thought of Walter Benjamin—a journey through urban fragments, the nostalgia of lost objects, and the fleeting movement of the crowd.
I have selected 29 contemporary works that embody the spirit of the Flâneur: the solitary observer wandering through the city. From the blurred, cinematic visions of Jochen Creepy and Sven Pfrommer to the intimate "Trace of Memory" by Stephanie van der Klooster, these pieces capture the essence of the "Passage."
The collection moves between the mechanical precision of Sophie Voigt-Chadeyron’s objects and the lyrical, faded atmospheres of Peggy Casey-Mason. It is an invitation to discover the poetry of the fragment—where every detail is a gateway to a lost world and a silent witness to the relentless passage of time.
