What strikes me most is how artists use heels to tell stories about femininity itself – the expectations, the choices, the moments of rebellion. Sometimes they represent confidence and glamour. Sometimes they're symbols of constraint. And sometimes, the most powerful image is simply the relief of taking them off at the end of the day.
