A curation by Juliana Angulo, Art Historian, Curator, and Advisor at FAREX & Singulart - On the occasion of World Art Day celebrated yearly in April, this collection renders homage to old masters by presenting contemporary interpretations of their essence. The works revisit iconic images such as Leonardo da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man, the medieval tapestry The Lady and the Unicorn, the Dutch painting Girl with a Pearl Earring, and the portrait of Gabrielle d’Estrées, among other renowned references. Their styles vary widely, and their techniques range from photographs to paintings, prints, engravings, collages, and mixed media, with individual perceptions of the past showcased through today’s eyes. This series not only proposes fresh visions of art history, but also clearly demonstrates knowledge and admiration for cultural heritage. While some artworks appear idyllic and directly inspired by the original pieces, others lean into abstraction, chromatic intensity, expressionist strokes, fragmentation, or irony to provide renewed meanings to their aesthetics. Ultimately, they all reflect artistic freedom and diversity, offering new outlooks on history and highlighting the everlasting relevance of creativity for society.
