A curation by Juliana Angulo, Art Historian, Curator, and Advisor at FAREX & Singulart - “Books are like a window onto another world: with each new page, they introduce us to new people, new cultures and new ideas.” UNESCO. In commemoration of World Book Day celebrated yearly on April 23, this selection of photographs portrays the role of books in society while recalling the importance of literacy and culture. Through portraits, conceptual settings, images of libraries, sculptures, and everyday scenes, they appear in diverse contexts opening multiple interpretations. Whether held in the hands of readers, stacked into sculptures, displayed on shelves or placed within unexpected environments, they transcend their role as simple objects to become symbols of wisdom and imagination. Books can be educational, entertaining, escapist, or intimate, but ultimately they demonstrate the power of written language to carry knowledge across generations.
