Su quest'opera
Urban Connections grew out of my interest in what happens between people when they share the same urban space. The figures are physically close, yet many seem absorbed in their own experience. Some are taking photographs or looking at their phones, connected to what is happening around them while also caught up in their own world.
I wanted this tension between connection and disconnection to become part of the painting itself. Applied with a palette… knife, the oil paint gives physical depth to the fragmented forms, while reds, blues, greens, yellows and oranges create visual links across the canvas. Colour becomes another form of connection.
I deliberately left large areas of white canvas open, giving the scene room to breathe and bringing the relationships between the figures into focus.
Urban Connections belongs to my Metropolitan series, where I explore how individuals inhabit and relate to contemporary city life.

I am an Italian contemporary painter. Born in Southern Italy, I spent years moving through structures that did not represent me — economics degree, corporate work, even politics. Always searching for myself, and for freedom. At forty, painting emerged as a necessity, the place where the search for myself became a pictorial one. My language is the pixel pittorico — fragments of colour applied with a palette knife, breaking down and recomposing images. Up close, the works appear abstract. Stepping back, figures, faces, and urban landscapes reveal themselves — unfolding connections and possibilities. Exhibited nationally and internationally, my works are held in private collections in Europe and the United States, and include a cover of musician Alphonso Johnson's album.
In a time that accelerates, simplifies, divides, and flattens, my art offers a space where complexity is value, fragment possibility, and sharing completion. A space where anyone can feel welcomed for who they are.
