There was a time when the forest did not need to be protected, because every creature understood its language. She, however, was born in a time when that language was fading.
They called her Ayla, which in her language means “the one who listens.” She was not a warrior in the usual sense, but a guardian. From a young age, she learned to recognize the breath of the trees, the rhythm of the water, the sudden silence that comes before danger. The forest… was not a place—it was a voice, and she was one of the few who could still understand it.
One day, as the wind carried the distant smell of smoke, a young Ara ararauna fell wounded at her feet. Its feathers, once radiant like sky and sun combined, were stained with ash. Ayla took it in, cared for it, and in the quiet days that followed, she understood: the forest was asking for help.
From that moment on, they were never apart.
