About this artwork
Three seated female nudes are arranged in and one above the other on the picture surface. The mood and movement of the women were captured with concentrated graphite and ink lines. While the central figure appears very mysterious due to ink effects, the seated figure in the background is drawn very finely in pencil. The sheet shows not just a snapshot, but a chronological sequence. Alexandra Hiltl always works with a real model in the studio, which…
means that her nudes radiate a special authenticity and liveliness. Concentrated compositions are created on pure rag paper, some with a deckle edge, which are given a particularly refined and noble appearance by the application of gold pigment. Depending on the incidence of light, the painting changes because the pigment shines and shimmers differently. The painting is unframed and can be integrated into different living styles according to the customer's taste thanks to the individual framing.

« Each of my pictures should appear as if a little bit of color had happened by chance, formed into a composition in a miraculous way, but could disappear again at any time. »
Alexandra Hiltl is a German painter and draftswoman whose works are widely exhibited worldwide. Her art moves between abstraction and figuration and is not specifically concerned with botanical or physiological accuracy, but rather with the "atmosphere of the moment". The beauty of living things touches her deeply, and Hiltl compositions reflect an emotional imagery. Working primarily in watercolor technique, her artistic practice requires extreme concentration as she allows the color to flow along with concentrated shaping.
