About this artwork
This painting is impressive because it combines abstract surface painting with floral elements. An amaryllis flower climbs from the left into the picture space, which is backed with cream-colored ornaments in the upper area. The blossom meets an abstractly painted surface in different shades of red and red-brown. Ornaments in floral shapes can also be found in the lower area of the painting and formally connect the flower to the background. This…
composition gives the work of art a great presence in the room and looks elegant and modern at the same time.
Thin layers of color alternate with opaque areas, which creates space and depth in the monochrome parts of the picture. The artist produces almost all colors herself and only uses high quality professional materials.

« Each of my pictures should appear as if a little bit of color had happened by chance, formed into a composition in a miraculous way, but could disappear again at any time. »
Alexandra Hiltl is a German painter and draftswoman whose works are widely exhibited worldwide. Her art moves between abstraction and figuration and is not specifically concerned with botanical or physiological accuracy, but rather with the "atmosphere of the moment". The beauty of living things touches her deeply, and Hiltl compositions reflect an emotional imagery. Working primarily in watercolor technique, her artistic practice requires extreme concentration as she allows the color to flow along with concentrated shaping.
