About this artwork
This painting impresses with the fact that it combines abstract surface painting with floral elements and ornaments. Red amaryllis blossoms twine from above into the delicately colored pictorial space. The flowers meet an abstract painted surface in different shades of pink and cream. Ornaments in floral forms can also be found in the lower part of the painting and formally connect the blossoms with the background. White glazes with mother-of-pearl…
paint give the painting a noble shimmer when exposed to light. This entire composition gives the work of art a subtle presence in the room and looks elegant and modern at the same time.
Thin layers of paint alternate with opaque areas, which creates space and depth even in the almost monochrome parts of the picture. The artist produces almost all the colors herself and only uses high-quality professional materials.

« Each of my pictures should appear as if a little bit of color had happened by chance, formed into a composition in a miraculous way, but could disappear again at any time. »
Alexandra Hiltl is a German painter and draftswoman whose works are widely exhibited worldwide. Her art moves between abstraction and figuration and is not specifically concerned with botanical or physiological accuracy, but rather with the "atmosphere of the moment". The beauty of living things touches her deeply, and Hiltl compositions reflect an emotional imagery. Working primarily in watercolor technique, her artistic practice requires extreme concentration as she allows the color to flow along with concentrated shaping.
