About this artwork
People are having fun on the beach. The day lies ahead of them. The children are playing by the water, swimmers are snorkeling, surfers are out and about. This scene shows a moment of lightheartedness and relaxation. The sea is painted in various shades of blue, some of the pigment is still visible. Accents in neon yellow, orange and pink were applied with oil paint, as were the figures that merge with the landscape. Matte and shiny sections alternate.…
The use of neon colors gives the picture a radiant glow and a strong presence. The 7 cm deep stretcher frame, which is also painted on the sides, gives the picture spatial depth and becomes an object. The effect is spectacular because, despite its small size, my work is very present in the room and depicts different scenes. It was important to me to capture the good mood and confident atmosphere of a day at the beach. The format of the picture and its object-like nature are very special.

« Each of my pictures should appear as if a little bit of color had happened by chance, formed into a composition in a miraculous way, but could disappear again at any time. »
Alexandra Hiltl is a German painter and draftswoman whose works are widely exhibited worldwide. Her art moves between abstraction and figuration and is not specifically concerned with botanical or physiological accuracy, but rather with the "atmosphere of the moment". The beauty of living things touches her deeply, and Hiltl compositions reflect an emotional imagery. Working primarily in watercolor technique, her artistic practice requires extreme concentration as she allows the color to flow along with concentrated shaping.
