About this artwork
The painting is temporarily in an exhibition.
The work is part of my last series "Unfolding the rainbow" - because emotions, from an artistic point of view, have their own rainbow.
In realization of paintings, I used just the three primary colors: red, yellow, and blue, complemented in a proportion less than 10% by the achromatic white and black.
In creating this series, I started from the idea that the color is almost always a social reality more… than a visual one. Ontologically impure, because they always oscillate between themselves and the viewer, the colors are available for any kind of appropriation and they represent an unspoken language. They are chromatic words that shapes our lives.
The color, for both the artist and the viewer, is often a thought that conveys an emotion and this is the message of my works.
Alida Velea is a Romanian multimedia artist whose background spans engineering, and fine arts, focusing on painting, photography, video art, digital art, and drawing. She masterfully intertwines figurative storytelling with geometric abstraction and surrealist notes, blending traditional motifs with modern digital techniques for a rich, contemporary expression. Her work radiates sensitivity to social dynamics and honors the past, evoking deep introspection, empathy, and questions about identity, femininity, and the human condition.
