"The timeless reflection" work, part of the "Fractals" series, evokes a well known landscape from Bucharest (with the Parliament Palace), allowing the present to interfere in the past and in the future.
Few people know the bloody history of this great building, how it… was built during the communist regime and, how many people were sacrificed in its realisation.
Memory is a creative process: we always choose what and how to recall events, landscapes, situations.
Travelling through time and space, physically and metaphorically, I tried to tame the chaotic processes: from precise photographical milestones to acutely affective signposts, from generic perception and predictive reproduction to personally heartfelt signifiers, from assigned centers through limits to infinity.
Alida Velea is a Romanian multimedia artist whose background spans engineering, and fine arts, focusing on painting, photography, video art, digital art, and drawing. She masterfully intertwines figurative storytelling with geometric abstraction and surrealist notes, blending traditional motifs with modern digital techniques for a rich, contemporary expression. Her work radiates sensitivity to social dynamics and honors the past, evoking deep introspection, empathy, and questions about identity, femininity, and the human condition.
