About this artwork
In the late 1980 I began to notice the militarization of non military culture. In particular I noticed ergonomics design figures that reminded me of the standardized human figures of ancient corporatist cultures like Egypt Babylon Summer etc... I began to research ancient corporatism and discovered nouveau corporatism was redefined in 1884 by Pope Leo the socialist. Further that collectives of investors formed corporations and these corporations… became legal persons in 1888. Persons whose reflection could not be seen in a mirror. The mysterious blue fire of Saint George in Bram Stoker's 1887 story came to mind. Since then I've taken a semi journalistic approach to the rise of militarism the digital realm and corporatism... reflected in my paintings.
Allen Patten, a classically trained painter, sculptor, and digital artist, draws from his rich academic background to expertly weave the human condition and cultural commentary into his work. He employs a style that is both personal and uniquely ordered, crafting visually and spatially articulate pieces that offer an imaginative window onto reality. His art resonates with originality and encourages viewers to reflect deeply, ultimately conveying inspiration, freedom, and a call for renewed creative courage.
