About this artwork
KI in Japan or even ch'i or chi for China, which can be translated as flow of natural energy, is a notion of these two cultures designating the fundamental principle forming and animating the universe and life. Ki is at the origin of the universe and connects beings and things to each other. It is a subtle substance that moves and circulates inside the body. It is present in all manifestations of nature. In the Greek tradition the closest term would… be the "pneuma" the breath of life. Here in this very last painting the artist wanted to bring the translation of this concept closer to the founding Indian ink of these civilizations. Moving, fluctuating and powerful, its strength lies in its versatility and in the unexpected it generates.
