About this artwork
The painting depicts the Celt: Boudicca, a historical figure who rose to fame through her rebellion against the superpower Rome. She was a queen and a warrior. Boudicca was the Celtic queen of the Iceni, who in the 1st century AD called the inhabitants of the British Isles to revolt and almost led them to freedom. The painting shows Boudicca in her warrior outfit: war cloak, war paint, and a golden torch around her neck as a symbol of her ancestry.…
The painting has an abstract background. The painting style involves leaving out several areas to reveal the background, and the motif is thus skillfully interwoven, giving the whole a special dynamic. The work conveys both a mystical and a powerful aura that captures the viewer's attention. My artistic approach to color and form shows a creative interpretation of the portrait.
