A work from my "The Alchemist" series - because, as is well known, the alchemists tried to make gold or silver from base metals. The modern painting in the tradition of abstract expressionism fascinates the viewer with lively pink, red and brown tones as well as white contrasts and dynamic lines. The eye can wander through the picture without getting tired of seeing.
It is made up of structures and numerous layers of paint that give the work an… interesting texture. The canvas image blends in with a variety of furnishing styles and interior designs.

Anja Stemmer is an emerging contemporary artist living in Germany. Influenced by expressionists such as Hans Hartung and Pierre Soulages, she uses strong colours and gestural elements, which she skilfully combines with the expressive possibilities of fluid colours. Her works balance spontaneous expression with the intention to convey courage, confidence and a sense of departure. She is passionate about experimenting with binders, pigments and substrates to further enhance these qualities.
