About this artwork
In this piece, I embraced minimalism and abstraction to evoke a feeling of delicate movement and fleeting moments. Using black and epoxy, I captured an ethereal dance where forms blend into light and shadow, inviting viewers to find their own stories within the simplicity. This work breathes calm energy, making any space feel contemplative and serene. Epoxy primed stainless steel with 12 layers of enamel 24" x 18" x 3". I prepared this ground in… advance and it sat in my studio for months before the urge came to apply a circular grinder. As the abrasive wheel bit through the layers and interesting motif developed suggesting the bird's plummage.
Banning Lary, a painter and digital artist with deep roots in Venice Beach and advanced degrees in communication and psychology, blends ultrarealistic still lifes, evocative landscapes, and portraits with experimental abstracts called Catharcism. He masterfully merges Action Painting spontaneity with his own photography, pioneering the use of digital imagery in mixed media. His works radiate an intense pursuit of truth, beauty, and intelligence, offering viewers an emotional catharsis and a potent sense of clarity.
