About this artwork

This is a floral piece done in encaustic, which means it is painted with beeswax and pigments on a wooden panel. The gold represents the morning and evening hours of rapid change, the beauty of transition.
An encaustic painting is very influenced by light, the appearance changes with the different light during the day, because it consits of many transparent layers . This translucency is even heightened by the reflective gold pigment, which is a rich… saturated surface that appears to glow and shine.
Deeply inspired by the beauty of flowers and landscapes, I push my subject to a place of gestural abstraction. Sweeping gestures are heightened by bold saturated tones. It matures to a gestural dance revealing my utmost authentic voice, a dreamlike reconfiguration of emotional meanings.
