About this artwork
Created live while riding a skateboard, this acrylic-on-canvas performance portrait brings painting, drawing, and observational photography into a single, unified visual experience. Executed in a one-hour in-person sitting, the work captures a nude portrait of a New York–based female influencer, with subtle references to her roots of Asian fine art traditions.
A vivid chakra-based colour palette flows through the composition, evoking balance, rising… energy, and healing. Gestural marks and layered interruptions record movement, risk, and presence, while a dragon motif emerges as a symbol of renewal and transformation, aligning the work with Chinese New Year.
Rather than offering fixed narratives, the work invites intuitive reflection - functioning as both portrait and record of embodied performance.
