About this artwork
Chicago has been the Candy Capital of the World since the late-19th century. Candymakers flocked to the city of Chicago—a fast-growing industrial city right in the middle of the country. Ferrara Pan Candy Company was founded in 1908 by Salvatore Ferrara who immigrated to America and saved up money to open a bakery in the Little Italy neighborhood. The roots of many small candy companies lie in Chicago.

Bumpy Wilson (b. 1995) is a Chicago, based Contemporary Artist who creates highly personal paintings that assert his unique style somewhere between Pop Minimalism and Magical Surrealism. His oeuvre is subtly culled from the art world itself and most notably depicts cows, basketball hoops, and seemingly random objects. Through his art, he is able to evoke puns as art forms, providing a play on words for his ever-expanding discursive material.
