About this artwork
The Midwest has such a rich history, so when compiling my paintings, which all exemplify a moment in that history, I wanted a single composition that provides a glimpse into the mundane modern day. A backyard party felt appropriate: the blacktop with the hoop, white lawn chairs, Igloo cooler, Weber grill, bags, a fold out table, kiddy pool, beersby, a running hose, a cow, and the baby tree. These items are regular and common.

« "The more you do, the less you wait", my style is constantly evolving with each new piece I create. »
Bumpy Wilson (b. 1995) is a Chicago, based Contemporary Artist who creates highly personal paintings that assert his unique style somewhere between Pop Minimalism and Magical Surrealism. His oeuvre is subtly culled from the art world itself and most notably depicts cows, basketball hoops, and seemingly random objects. Through his art, he is able to evoke puns as art forms, providing a play on words for his ever-expanding discursive material.
