About this artwork
Ancestral rain dance is a metaphor I use of our ancestors quietly observing our human interaction with the land. In this case the land here, being the Drakensberg mountain region within South Africa. I chose this region because of the societal impact that ancestral rights have as an impact on the soil erosion within the surrounding areas.

Cameron de Bruyn applies his knowledge as a drawer and aspiring printmaker, honed under leading mentors. His style is expressively raw; he captures emotion over detailed realism and utilizes memory as a drawing tool, carving out a unique approach that circumvents internalized imagery. His art, resonating with an intense exploration into overcoming human ambition and fear, communicates a nurturing invitation to self-healing. Through observational depth and sincere introspection, he illuminates life's curious complexities.
